THE HALLOWEEN MURDER 2025

Case Closed!

The night began with glittering masks, the scent of spiced wine, and the warm glow of candlelight in Vale House. Guests twirled across the ballroom, laughed on the lawn over pumpkin carving, and whispered rumors in velvet-draped corners. But by the end of the evening, the gala’s most important guest — Miranda Vale — was found lifeless in the Library Alcove, the black satin ribbon around her neck no longer a festive decoration.

Unmasking the Killer

The ribbon had last been seen tied neatly around the neck of a raven figurine. Somewhere between 9:50 PM and 10:10 PM, it vanished — only to reappear as the murder weapon. During the Ghost Light Walk from 10:00–10:06 PM, the killer struck in the shadows.

Piece by piece, you ruled out the innocent:

  • Marco Santori was trapped in the kitchen, wrangling flambé desserts (and witnesses) during the ribbon’s disappearance.

  • Evan Vale was turned away from the North Wing checkpoint at 9:50 PM and stayed out on the lawn carving pumpkins.

  • Jonah Clarke could never have managed the quick, even garrote pull — his arm was in a rigid cast.

  • Lena Park was lit up by spotlights, microphone in hand, her voice filling the ballroom during the entire time of death window.

What the Killer Counted On

Only one suspect had the access, opportunity, and motive to tie all the clues together: Tamsin Reed. She glided past the checkpoint at 9:47 PM, Skull stamp gleaming, and into the North Wing. There, she removed the ribbon from the raven and kept it hidden until the lights dimmed.

Minutes later, Miranda received a cryptic text from an unknown number, summoning her to the North Wing. She brought her champagne glass, thinking it was a quick conversation before the parade. Instead, in the quiet of the Library Alcove, she met her end.

The Why

The motive was hidden in plain sight — a printed email found in the study. Miranda had scheduled a Monday morning financial review to address “flagged entries” in the Foundation’s accounts. At the bottom, in her own handwriting: “Talk to first tonight — private.” Whether she meant to warn or confront Tamsin, we’ll never know. But Tamsin knew what the audit would reveal, and decided the masquerade would be her cover.

Curtain Call

When the lights came up for the costume parade, Tamsin was back among the guests, the ribbon already discarded, her gloves hiding any trace of glitter.

Congratulations if you pieced it together. You navigated clue, red herrings, and overlapping timelines to pull the mask from the true killer’s face. And if you didn’t… well, that’s the magic of the Masquerade — everyone wears a mask, and some fit better than others.
